Howdy folks, and welcome to another edition of “What Would You Do?” Wednesday, where I tap into the great online repository of medical case studies (aka, YouTube) and give you a scenario. You then get to watch the video, and think through your management of the patient’s potential injuries.
High-speed mechanism is way less common in the wilderness environment than the front country environment, but it can still happen. Today, our patient was partaking in a group road ride, and discovered that the local wildlife was not on board with his plans.
I have to admit, I did not see that coming. Neither did the patient or the deer.
To clarify, the person riding the bike is your patient, not the deer; this is a wilderness medicine blog, folks, not vet medicine! So, what are you going to do? What injuries do you suspect? How will you manage them?
Let me know in the comments or on twitter using the handle #wwydwednesday. I’ll share my thoughts later this week!
